Acne scarring is a change in the structure of the skin rather than a mark on its surface. Different scar shapes respond differently, and some respond more than others.
We assess scar type and depth in daylight and under magnification, photograph the area so change can be measured, and set out honestly what a course is likely to achieve.

Frequently asked
- How many microneedling sessions will I need?
- Usually three to six, four weeks apart. We review at the halfway point and adjust.
- Can scarring be removed completely?
- No. The aim is to soften the edges and even the surface so scarring is less noticeable, not to remove it.
- Should I wait until my acne is settled?
- Generally yes. Treating scarring while acne is still active tends to be uncomfortable and less productive.
