Melasma
Symmetrical brown or grey-brown patches, often on the cheeks, forehead or upper lip.
Melasma is a pigmentation pattern influenced by hormones, heat and light. It is known for fluctuating, and it typically improves and returns rather than resolving once.
We manage it as an ongoing condition: daily protection, careful actives, and gentle treatment. Aggressive resurfacing usually makes melasma worse, so we do not do it.

Frequently asked
- Will it come back?
- It can. Melasma is managed rather than resolved, and sun protection does most of the work.
- Is heat-based treatment suitable?
- Often not. Heat can aggravate melasma, so we favour sun protection, careful actives and gentle peels, and assess before recommending anything.
- Does SPF really matter indoors?
- Yes. Daylight through windows is enough to keep melasma active.
