What To Do and See in Seville, Spain? Our 48 Hour Trip
Hot Weather, Stunning Sites and Even Better Food
We recently spent two weeks in Portugal as a family.
For a few days, the weather had other ideas.
So we did too.
We jumped in the car and took a road trip across the border to Seville.
Here’s what we managed to fit into 48 hours - with two children in tow.

Getting There & Around
We drove across from Portugal, which took us around 2½ hours.
Because it was a last-minute decision, we travelled from where we were staying.
If I did the Portugal-to-Seville journey again, I’d probably go straight from Faro Airport - it’s only around a two-hour drive.
Alternatively, it looks like Seville has its own well-connected airport, with plenty of affordable flights.
Once we arrived, we used Uber for the longer journeys. Cars were readily available and reasonably priced, while most of Seville’s main attractions were within walking distance of one another.
Maybe you’re braver than me, but I would avoid driving into the main centre of Seville. A lot of the streets are very narrow and there are a lot of pedestrians.
One thing to prepare for is the heat.
People aren’t exaggerating when they say Seville gets hot. Even though temperatures were only in the high 20s and low 30s, we regularly found ourselves stopping for cold drinks and ice creams.
The children certainly weren’t complaining about that!
Where We Stayed
As we had a hire car, we decided to stay slightly outside the city centre at Barceló Sevilla Renacimiento, where we could guarantee parking.
It’s a large, resort-style hotel with a slightly corporate, conference-centre feel. Although officially listed as five-star, we felt it was closer to a good four-star hotel.
That said, it was modern, clean and good value for a family room (200EUR).
As we’d heard about the Seville heat, choosing somewhere with a swimming pool was a priority, particularly with two energetic children!
The hotel has a large outdoor pool, a towel service and a pool bar. Unsurprisingly, it was a huge hit with the kids.
The city centre was approximately 10 minutes away by Uber.
If we returned without a car, I might consider staying more centrally, but I’m not sure we’d want to sacrifice that lovely pool!

We booked most things on the day and didn’t have much trouble doing it this way, but you can also book in advance to guarantee your place.
Is Seville Expensive? We didn’t think so, we found food and drink very reasonable and delicious.
Is Seville Worth Visiting and Would I go Again?
We had a fantastic 48 hours in Seville and I’d definitely go again.
It made for a great little family trip, but it would also be lovely for a romantic getaway.
I don’t think you’d need more than 3 days, most things can be achieved in that timescale.
Good food, Good weather, Good company and beautiful sites and attractions.
